Mayor's Message
Our Community Logo and Slogan

Welcome to Strathroy-Caradoc a community of nearly 20,000 residents in the County of Middlesex in the heart of Southwestern Ontario.

The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc was formed in 2001 from an amalgamation of the Town of Strathroy and the Township of Caradoc.  We are located in Middlesex County approximately 40 kilometres west of the City of London.

Strathroy, the main urban centre of the Municipality,  is a bustling community with a rich and vibrant downtown. The Downtown is a unique and authentic heritage downtown boasting quaint shops and restaurants. Located around the downtown are many Victorian “yellow-brick” century homes.

The rural community of Caradoc is considered one of the best agricultural areas of the province producing annual crops of corn, wheat, soybeans, and processing vegetables.  Caradoc is also home to the Villages of Mount Brydges and Melbourne.

The Sydenham River with its beautiful parklands and conservation areas is the only major watershed which lies completely in the Carolinian Life Zone and is relatively undisturbed by industrial development. This has made the river a biological treasure. The Sydenham River supports an incredible variety of aquatic life making it one of the most species-rich watersheds in all of Canada, with several species found nowhere else in Canada.

Perhaps take time to discover Longwoods Road Conservation Area operated by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority. Ska-Nah-Doht Iroquoian Village, located within Longwoods Road Conservation Area, features a village reflective of the Native settlements found along the river close to 1,000 years ago. It is also a popular attraction for local residents and tourists alike. Amazingly in the 1980’s, archaeologists excavated 2 actual Iroquoian settlements at Longwoods, dating back to the same time period depicted through Ska-Nah-Doht.  Artifacts from these ‘digs’ are housed and displayed at the Museum located in the Resource Centre.

Come to Strathroy-Caradoc to experience friendly, small-town Ontario. It’s only a short drive to meet your neighbour.
