Police Department

The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service emerged from the Strathroy Police Service in Middlesex County upon the amalgamation of the Township of Caradoc and the Town of Strathroy on January 1, 2001.  The original  Strathroy Police Department was formed by resolution of the Strathroy Town Council (By-Law No. 34) on February 5, 1872 and has remained an active and important part of western Middlesex County since that time.

The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service administers the 9-1-1 Public Emergency Reporting Service for ambulance, fire and police within its jurisdiction and dispatches calls for assistance for the three fire department stations of Melbourne, Mount Brydges and Strathroy as well as all police related matters.  In addition, a dedicated core of 12 civilian members and 30 sworn police officers help provide policing services to our community of 20,000 residents through the followoing departments, services and programs:  General Patrol Division; Criminial Investigation Division; Forensic Identification; Scenes of Crime Processing; Community Services Division; Traffic Enforcement and Projects Unit; Perimeter Control and Containment (Emergency Response Unit); Accident Scene Investigation (Collision Investigation and Collision Analysis); Interagency Training; In-House Training; Hostage/Barricaded Person Negotiation; Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE); the Criminal Ingelligence Service of Ontario; the Four County Traffic Initiative (Elgin, Middlesex, Oxford and Perth Counties); as well as many other initiatives and programs.
