Strathroy-Caradoc Council has approved a proposal to move the Sleepy Hollow Railway from Alexandra Park to the new Fair Grounds Recreation Complex on Metcalfe Street West in Strathroy.
Council heard a presentation from senior administrative staff on March 17 suggesting the move, mainly because of flooding issues at the current site that caused major damage and disruption last summer.

Parking restrictions in the area of the new Mary Wright Public School have been approved by Strathroy-Caradoc Council.
The move comes in the wake of traffic flow and safety issues near the school since its opening in February. Municipal staff received many complaints from parents and area residents and observed the situation in person before preparing the proposal for changes which council accepted.
The restrictions will take effect once signs are installed at the various locations.

There is a greater than usual risk of flooding this spring, according to water management staff at the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority and its ice management committee.
The combination of ice on rivers, waterways, and local lakes, and a larger volume of water stored in packed snow, has substantially increased the chance of flooding. The potential for a sudden warm-up, accompanied by rainfall, may also produce enough flow in rivers to cause flooding.

The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc has been selected as one of 25 Canadian communities to be awarded with a TD Green Streets grant.
The TD Green Streets program supports leading-edge practices in municipal forestry, including tree planting, inventory, maintenance and educational activities. Strathroy-Caradoc will receive $8,000 in 2014 to replace trees affected by the Emerald Ash Borer in residential areas and support new infill plantings in newer subdivisions.
