A total of 44 native trees and 200 shrubs were planted along the Sydenham River in Alexandra Park on Wednesday, September 25 in an effort to create naturalized areas within the park system.
The community planting project was originally scheduled for an earlier date, but the event was postponed due to intense flooding in the park and eventually rescheduled to coincide with National Tree Day.

A host of free activities are taking place in Strathroy-Caradoc as local residents celebrate Culture Days on September 27, 28, and 29.

Strathroy-Caradoc will observe Fire Prevention Week from October 6-12 with a focus on kitchen safety.
To kick off Fire Prevention Week, the Strathroy, Mt. Brydges and Melbourne fire stations will host an Open House on Saturday, October 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors will have a chance to meet their local firefighters, take a tour of the fire halls, and enjoy some cake. Museum Strathroy-Caradoc is hosting a gala event to celebrate a unique collection of photographs that remained hidden for nearly 110 years.
Scheduled for the evening of October 5 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the R.S. Williams Gala will include wine, hors d’ouvres, a photo booth, and a silent auction. The event, organized by the Museum Foundation, will also feature displays of vintage camera equipment and a never-before-seen selection of photos developed from the R.S.
