Strathroy-Caradoc’s contract with Bluewater Recycling Association for the pick-up and disposal of waste and recyclables will be extended through the end of 2016.
The contract calls for the same base price for the service as is in place currently with increases only for new customers and to reflect cost of living changes. It is scheduled to be officially ratified by council in early July. Under the new contract, the wheelie bin system of collection will remain unchanged.

At the June 2 meeting of Strathroy-Caradoc Council, municipal staff highlighted the efforts of individual volunteers and service organizations that made the relocation of the Sleepy Hollow miniature railway possible.

A tree planting program for 2014 has been approved by Strathroy-Caradoc Council.
This year’s program will focus on the Parkview Estates subdivision and Riverview Drive area in Strathroy. Planned is the planting of 250 trees on municipal property in these areas. The plantings are expected to take place this October.

As summer approaches and recreational vehicles are being brought out of storage, residents are reminded of the parking requirements for residential areas of the municipality.
No motor home, travel trailer, truck camper, boat or other recreational vehicle equal to, or greater than, 6m (20 ft) in length is to be parked or stored on a residential lot unless it is parked or stored in a side or rear yard or in a main building, private garage or accessory building.

The Sleepy Hollow Railway relocation project is now completed at the Fair Grounds Recreation Complex in Strathroy. The railway is scheduled to begin operation on June 21 to coincide with the opening of the new aquatic park.
Sinking Ship Entertainment’s ‘Giver’ was in Strathroy-Caradoc May 23-25 to assist with the transformation of Sleepy Hollow Railway. The process was filmed and will be aired as part of an episode of ‘Giver’ on TVO Kids next year.
