The County of Middlesex has launched a new community survey for the Middlesex County Economic Development Strategic Plan and all businesses and residents are invited to participate. The purpose of the economic development strategic plan is to set a direction for the County’s economic development activities over the next five years. The last in a series of planned improvements has received approval to proceed at the Strathroy and Area Seniors Centre.
Strathroy-Caradoc Council on September 3 approved awarding a contract for the replacement of the building’s HVAC system at a cost of $50,002.50. This project is part of a larger facility improvement project that includes the replacement of the roof (approved by Council in August) and the hot water boiler tank. With the construction of the new outdoor aquatic facility at the corner of Metcalfe Street and Park Street scheduled for completion in late fall of this year, demolition to the Lions Pool in Alexandra Park is currently underway, marking the end of an era for the former outdoor pool. For over 63 years the pool served the community of Strathroy and area, providing aquatic programming and water safety training for residents.

A project to install solar panels on the roofs of 13 buildings owned by the municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc is now complete.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held by the municipality and EfstonScience, which installed the panels, on Thursday, September 5, at 2 p.m. Mayor Joanne Vanderheyden and officials from EfstonScience were on hand at the Strathroy-Caradoc municipal office to cut the ribbon and speak about the project.

The Strathroy Rotary Club made its first repayment to the Municipality for a loan provided to help finance construction of the Splash Pad at Alexandra Park.
The $10,000 cheque was presented at the park on August 13, with Rotary Club Past President Bill Montgomery and Strathroy-Caradoc Mayor Joanne Vanderheyden (pictured) in attendance.
The Strathroy Rotary Club took the lead in the development of the Splash Pad project, which opened earlier this year and has proven to be a popular addition to the community....
