Property tax rates for 2013 have been set in Strathroy-Caradoc.
Council on May 21 approved the rate package, in which the residential tax rate will rise 0.176 percent from last year’s rate.
With reassessment pushing assessed value of the average residential property in Strathroy-Caradoc up by 3.31 percent, the average total tax increase over last year will be 3.486 percent. On a property assessed at $200,000 this year, property taxes will total $2,603.62, based on the 3.31 percent assessment increase...

Over 120 trees were planted throughout the Strathroy parks system on Tuesday, May 7 thanks to the help of a generous donor and the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA).
Administrative and field staff of the SCRCA were on hand Tuesday morning to assist the municipality in finding a home for a donation of trees from grower John Stuart of Nova Scotia - including sugar maple, little leaf linden, hickory, catalpa and balsam fir varieties.

Strathroy-Caradoc’s façade improvement program will include seven businesses in 2013.
Council on May 6 approved the applications, under which the seven businesses will share $47,283 in municipal grant money to help make structural and storefront improvements. That represents half of the estimated total cost of $94,566 for the work.

The contract has been awarded for a major servicing project along Carroll Street West in Strathroy.
Strathroy-Caradoc Council on May 6 awarded the contract to Birnam Excavating Ltd. An upgrade to the Lake Huron water pipeline that supplies Strathroy-Caradoc is set to begin on Wednesday, April 24.
The planned upgrade will twin the water pipeline in high-pressure sections, improving water flow and preventing potential breaks. No change in the normal water supply is expected while the work is being completed. Residents who do experience discoloured water or low water pressure are encouraged to contact the municipality.
