Masks and Face Coverings Following the announcement that the Province of Ontario will no longer require masking, Strathroy-Caradoc Council repealed By-law 41-20 requiring masks or face coverings in enclosed public spaces at its March 21, 2022 meeting. This means that masking is no longer mandatory in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, with the exception of the Inter-Community Bus Service, where provincial regulations still require masking. Residents are encouraged to continue taking steps to protect themselves and others to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Some of these steps include getting vaccinated, practicing physical distancing when possible, and participating in outdoor activities, as opposed to indoor, when that is an option. By-law 41-20 was always intended to be a temporary measure to address local health concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. While masks are no longer mandatory, residents are still encouraged to wear one in indoor public spaces. The repeal of the masking by-law follows the lifting of the local state of emergency on March 17, 2022. |
