Monday, October 17, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. to Monday, October 24, 2022 (Voting Day) at 8:00 p.m.

How to Vote

Eligible voters cast their ballot online or by telephone during the Voting Period. Voter Instruction Letters were mailed to eligible electors recorded on the Municipal Voters' List in advance of the election.

Am I on the Voters List?

  • Are you a new resident?
  • Did you move from a home you owned to a rental property?
  • Have your adult children permanently left home?
  • Do you have new tenants?

If you answered yes to any one of these questions, you may need to update the occupancy or school board support information for your property. It is vital that you confirm your name is on the Voters' List, especially if you have moved since the previous election.

Who can vote?

A person may vote in Strathroy-Caradoc if they meet the following three requirements:

  • Canadian citizen;
  • Aged 18 or older;
  • Qualified to vote in the Municipality.

There are three ways that you can qualify to vote in a Municipality:

  • As a resident elector if you live in the municipality. You may own, rent, or live in shared accommodation where you do not pay rent, or live in the municipality but do not have a fixed address. Being a resident elector is the most common type of eligibility.
  • As a non-resident elector if you own or rent property in a municipality, but it’s not the one where you live. You can be a resident elector in only one municipality. However, you can be a non-resident elector in any other municipality (or municipalities) where you own or rent property.
  • As the spouse of a non-resident elector if your spouse owns or rents property in the municipality or municipalities other than the one where you live.

Neither you nor your spouse qualify as a non-resident elector if you do not personally own or rent the property in the municipality. For example, if the property is owned by your business or your cottage is owned by a trust, you would not qualify as a non-resident elector.

Is my name and information current on the Voters List?
  • Are you a new resident?
  • Did you move from a home you owned to a rental property?
  • Have your adult children permanently left home?
  • Do you have new tenants?

If you answered yes to any one of these questions, you may need to update the occupancy or school board support information for your property. It is vital that you confirm your name is on the Voters' List, especially if you have moved since the previous election.
