Museum Strathroy-CaradocMuseum Strathroy-Caradoc hosts a diverse mix of rotating exhibitions from its permanent collection, as well as travelling exhibitions from museums across Canada. The Museum is responsible for collecting objects and archival documents from every aspect of our local history. The Museum also responds to research requests and helps with genealogical research. The Art Space is located at 34 Frank, alongside Museum Strathroy-Caradoc and Strathroy Public Library. Ska-Nah-Doht Ska-Nah-Doht Village and Museum features a village reflective of the Native settlements found in this region close to 1,000 years ago. The village, created with information gathered by archaeologists and First Nation peoples, offers tours, workshops, and an opportunity to see how First Nations once lived. The Strathroy & District Historical Society focuses mainly on local history in Strathroy-Caradoc and surrounding areas, including Adelaide-Metcalfe. The Society meets monthly to hear guest speakers on a variety of topics, and also participates in community events throughout the year. Ska-Nah-Doht Village and Museum features a village reflective of the Native settlements found in this region close to 1,000 years ago. Arts |
The Art Group (Strathroy-Caradoc) is a collective of local artists dedicated to promoting and encouraging the arts to all members of the community. The Art Group offers classes and participates in a number of community events throughout the year. Strathroy District Arts Council promotes the arts in Strathroy-Caradoc and the surrounding area. SDAC hosts a number of concerts and live performances throughout the year. The Music Spot offers music education for all ages, as well as drop-in classes for both music and art. The Music Spot also coordinates the Strathroy-Caradoc Optimist Youth Band. Strathroy Pioneer Treadlers, Spinners, and Weavers is a fibre arts guild that meets each Wednesday from 1pm-3pm at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church to learn new skills in a fun way. Strathroy Chorale has been providing the services for community singing since 1960. Strathroy Chorale is a community choir for people of all ages. This local choir practices on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Church located at 34 Head St., Strathroy. Wright Family Foundation |
For generations the Wright family name has been synonymous with philanthropy and community service in Strathroy-Caradoc and surrounding area, with the generous contributions of siblings Don, Bill, Clark, Ernest, and Mary Wright being attached to several significant community projects. This legacy will live on through the efforts of the newly formed Wright Family Performing Arts and Entertainment Centre Foundation, which makes funds available to the community to support performing arts and cultural initiatives. |
