On Thursday January 21st, 2021, the Strathroy Caradoc Police received a call to investigate an unplated suspicious vehicle believed to be in contravention of the Stay-At-Home Order under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
The driver had been observed attending at several addresses within Strathroy for non-essential travel. The same vehicle was also observed the previous day doing the same but was not located at that time.
Police located the vehicle and conducted a vehicle stop in relation to the Highway Traffic Act offences. The officer was able to both recognize, and act upon a clear violation of the current Emergency Management and Protection Act, for Non Essential travel not related to the present allowable exceptions.
As a result of the investigation a 33 year old female from Watford was subsequently charged with an $875.00 fine for Individual-fail to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order under the Reopening Ontario Act schedule 80.1, Provincial Offences Act 10(1).
