Tender Awarded for Site Investigation Testing at 565 Lions Park Drive, Mount Brydges
Following a tender process, Council has awarded the tender for the site investigation testing at 565 Lions Park Drive to PINCHIN for a value of $53,486.25 plus HST.
The site investigation testing of 565 Lions Park Drive, Mount Brydges, comes in response to a decision made by Strathroy-Caradoc Council at the July 17, 2023 meeting, which directed staff to continue with preparatory site investigation for a new recreational complex located in Mount Brydges. The 565 Lions Park Drive location had previously been recommended by the Mt. Brydges Arena Building Committee due to the site's prominence in the community, its accessibility, and its ability to accommodate the development of a future community hub of recreational offerings.
The purpose of the site investigation is to ensure that the location can indeed support the proposed project. As outlined in the tender, the testing will include a site survey, a phase 1 environmental assessment, a geotechnical report, and designated substance surveys.
Council Approves the Purchase of a Secondary Set of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Strathroy-Caradoc Firefighters
During the September 5, 2023 Council meeting, Strathroy-Caradoc Council approved the purchase of a secondary set of personal protective equipment (PPE) for all Strathroy-Caradoc firefighters. This recommendation comes in response to a report received by Council at the June 19, 2023 Council meeting. This report, Fire-2023-05, identified that the greatest hazard to firefighter health amongst Strathroy-Caradoc fire stations is the inability to decontaminate PPE in a timely manner between emergency calls. The addition of a secondary set of PPE will ensure that firefighters do not re-expose themselves to harmful toxins and carcinogens by reusing PPE that has not received the required cleaning.

Tender Awarded for Adelaide Road Sewer Extension Engineering Services
Following a tender process, Council has awarded the tender for engineering services for the Adelaide Road Sewer Extension project to Spriet Associates Engineers & Architects for a value of $145,546.00 plus HST.
The Adelaide Road Sewer Extension project will enhance water and wastewater services to accommodate for the increased westward expansion in Mount Brydges. In response to the absence of sanitary sewers, insufficient storm water sewers, and an undersized watermain on Adelaide Road, the Adelaide Road Sewer Extension project will enhance services for new residents in upcoming developments and help to create additional capacity. The design of the project will not only include new storm sewers, sanitary sewers, and watermains but will also include the extension of sidewalks on both sides of Adelaide Road.
With a tender now awarded, Spriet Associates Engineers & Architects will begin the engineering design phase of the project. The construction phase of the project is estimated for September, 2024.
Tender Awarded for Parkhouse Drive and Troops Road Intersection Engineering Services
Following a tender process, Council has awarded the tender for engineering services for the Parkhouse Drive and Troops Road Intersection project to GM BluePlan Engineering for a value of $74,660.00 plus HST.
The Parkhouse Drive and Troops Road Intersection project will consist of a redesign and reconstruction of the intersection in accordance with the Transportation Association of Canada’s Guidelines and current Servicing Standards. Due to the increased traffic volume at the intersection of Parkhouse Drive and Troops Road and the decreased visibility caused by curves in the respective roads, the intersection has been flagged for redesign and reconstruction.
The tender awarded to GM BluePlan Engineering will cover the engineering design phase of the project, with a separate tender for the construction phase estimated to open in 2025.
