Deputy Chief Paul Landers will retire from Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service (SCPS) on December 31, 2022 after a 34-year career in policing and five years as Deputy Chief of SCPS.
“On behalf of the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Services Board I am pleased to congratulate Deputy Chief Landers for his exemplary service to the organization and wish him well on his retirement,” said Vice Chair of the Board Councillor John Brennan.
Deputy Chief Landers’ extensive career includes time with both the London Police Service and Chatham-Kent Police Service. He served in a number of policing areas including uniform patrol, traffic management, Uniform and Communication Centre Supervisor, and Staff Sergeant of Operations.
Following an extensive search, Staff Sergeant Brent Cushman has accepted the Deputy Chief's role following Deputy Chief Landers' retirement. Staff Sergeant Cushman has more than twenty seven years of law enforcement experience in a wide range of assignments including uniform patrol, traffic management, use of force training, uniform supervision, and more recently as the Staff Sergeant of Operations. "He knows the subject matter of these areas along with the day-to-day challenges for Strathroy-Caradoc police members," said Vice Chair Brennan. "His extensive experience and leadership skills will help our organization now and into the future."
S/Sgt Cushman is originally from Strathroy having commenced his policing career in Brantford in 1995. He returned home to join the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service in 1998 serving with pride and distinction. He looks forward to this new opportunity to support Chief Mark Campbell and to contribute to the Service’s priorities of enhancing member wellness supports and increasing the use of technologies for community safety and wellbeing.
The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Services Board is comprised of two appointees of the Province of Ontario, Chair Ineke Haan and Member Henry Wiersema, as well as Community Representative David Cameron and Municipal Council Appointees Mayor Joanne Vanderheyden and Vice Chair John Brennan.
