Julie McBrien provides an overview of the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, highlighting its capacity and diverse medical services. Serving approximately 35,000 residents, the hospital operates with 54 beds and a 24/7 emergency department. Despite its size, it offers a surprising range of services, including surgeries, diagnostic imaging, and specialized care like orthopedic and women's health services. MRIs will be added to the list soon, with a target date of March 2025.
One of the hospital's standout services is its focus on women's health. Julie detailed their comprehensive breast health program, which includes mammograms, biopsies, mastectomies, and breast reconstruction surgeries. Other significant services include plastic surgery, general surgery, orthopedic procedures, cataract surgery, and various lab and diagnostic tests.
Looking ahead, Julie revealed that the hospital is nearing the launch of a new strategic plan, focusing on exceptional care, staff support, and advancing clinical and technological capabilities. The plan aims to continuously engage with the community to ensure services are aligned with their needs and values. Part of this engagement involves gathering community feedback to shape a re-envisioned women's health program that responds to local input.
