The Middlesex Heritage Trail has been expanded to include interpretive signs for three additional historic sites in the municipality, supported by the Progress through Partnership program. With assistance from Museum Strathroy-Caradoc and local volunteers Frances and Richard Kilbourne, signs were recently installed in the community of South Caradoc at the site of the Burwell Cemetery (21044 Burwell Road), former School Section #13 (21105 Muncey Road - now utilized as a community centre), and the South Caradoc United Church (21054 Muncey Road).
All three sites will be featured as part of Middlesex Doors Open, scheduled for the weekend of September 29-30. Residents and visitors are invited to take advantage of this upcoming event for a rare opportunity to tour these historic sites while guided by community volunteers.
The three signs installed this week add to the existing Middlesex Heritage Trail in Strathroy-Caradoc, which includes twelve historic sites in downtown Strathroy and twelve sites located in the village of Mount Brydges. The Middlesex Heritage Trail project was originally initiated through a partnership of the County of Middlesex, the Community Futures Development Corporation, and the municipality.
