Over the holidays, the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service conducted enforcement through RIDE programs and general patrol to crack down on impaired driving.
As a result of this enforcement SCPS laid the following charges:
A 23 year old male from London was charged with:
• CC 320.15(1) Failure or refusal to comply with demand
• CC 145(4)(a) Failure to comply with undertaking
This male’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was subsequently impounded for 7 days.
Another 25 year old male, also from London, blew a warning on an approved screening device and was issued a 3 day licence suspension.
A third accused, a 32 year old male from Glencoe, was charged with:
• CC 320.14(1)(a) Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
• CC 320.14(1)(b) Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
This male blew over three times the legal limit on an approved instrument. His licence was also suspended for 30 days and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
SCPS is committed to reducing impaired driving offences through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives. Impaired driving is still the leading cause of criminal deaths in Canada and affects thousands of lives every year.
