The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc is seeking assistance from the public, agencies, community groups and First Nation communities to suggest names for the creation of an Approved Street Name List (a database of names intended to be used as an inventory of street names within Strathroy-Caradoc). We would be pleased to receive street name suggestions and ask that you use the Proposed Street Naming Request form (PDF[92KB]) to list the suggested names.
As background, the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc has recently passed By-law 83-22, The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc Street Naming Policy, providing the Municipality with a consistent and efficient naming process for municipal streets. The purpose of the policy is to encourage the naming of municipal streets to promote wayfinding, foster civic pride, and enable people and emergency services to locate properties readily. To this end, the name selections must meet the criteria of the Street Naming Policy outlined in Sections 4.1 and 4.2 of the Policy – see Appendix 1 (PDF[84KB]).
The requested name(s) will be evaluated in relation to Section 5.1.5 a) of the Policy – see Appendix 2 (PDF[84KB]). If the name(s) are found to meet the criteria, and there are no concerns from an Emergency Services perspective, the name(s) will be forwarded for consideration by Municipal Council.
