The Voting Period for the 2022 Strathroy-Caradoc Municipal & School Board Election is now in its fifth day, with operations running smoothly and voter turnout sitting at about 20% as of Friday morning. This is Strathroy-Caradoc’s third Internet and Telephone Municipal Election, as the Municipality ran its first paperless election in 2014 and second in 2018. Voter turnout is about 3% higher than at the same point during the 2018 election.
“Strathroy-Caradoc staff have been laying the groundwork for this election for well over a year, and we couldn’t be happier with the way our team has executed the election plan,” said Deputy Clerk Brianna Hammer-Keidel. “We’re ready for the final Voting Day on Monday, and look forward to sharing the results as soon as possible after the Voting Period closes on Monday evening.”
The Voter Help Centre at the Municipal Office has been open nine hours a day every day this week to answer questions, make additions to the Voters’ List, issue Voter Instruction Letters, and offer voting kiosks on-site. The Voter Help Centre will be open until 6pm on Friday, October 21, from 9am to 1pm on Saturday, October 22, and from 9am to 8pm on Monday, October 24. Voters are encouraged to take advantage of the extended hours and visit or call ahead of the final voting day on Monday.
The Municipality will be releasing the results via its website at www.strathroy-caradoc.ca and through Rogers Television election coverage on Monday evening. If you are eligible to vote and still require a Voter Instruction Letter, please call or e-mail the Voter Help Centre for assistance. The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc wishes good luck to the candidates who put their name forward to serve our community, and thanks those who have already voted.
