Strathroy-Caradoc Housing Corporation

A report was provided to Council which proposes a new governance model for the Strathroy-Caradoc Housing Corporation. The proposed model includes a Board of Directors, Corporate Membership, and Council. The housing corporation would have its own Board of Directors to take care of the day to day governance, a Corporate Membership designate would include all members of Council, ensuring Council retains full oversight and corporate members would have exclusive authority over by-law amendments, approval of real estate transactions, loans and liabilities, approval of annual budget, and the appointment of directors per the striking committee.

In addition to this new model, the Budget Process would be drafted by the Board of Directors, approved by Corporate Members, and ultimately forwarded to Municipal Council.

Downtown Strathroy Market

The Downtown Strathroy Market was up for discussion at last night’s Council meeting following the 2025 season. While experiencing varying degrees of success, the Market provides a positive economic boost for local businesses and visitors, contributing to the overall vitality of the community. In addition, it has become a social event for the community and surrounding area, creating a unique experience right here in Strathroy-Caradoc.

Council ultimately approved a motion for Municipal staff to: Develop an advisory committee or board and continue with a Summer Student as Market Manager under the general direction of the Booking & Events Coordinator, market to remain on Frank Street & Front Street, or a new location at the direction of Council.

The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc has operated the Downtown Strathroy Market for previous four years. Watch the full discussion here

Customer Service Strategy

Council was presented with the Customer Service Strategy and Implementation Plan. This stems from the Service Delivery Review results, which identified Customer Service and Community Engagement as a key area of development for the Municipality.

The Customer Service Strategy is built on a Vision, Mission and Core Pillars – which will enable the organization to move in a positive direction forward when providing customer service both internally and externally. New technology and tools will provide the Municipality with the ability to measure success, build workflows and execute tasks much easier. The Municipality underwent a Service Inventory process, and over 300 Municipal services were identified. Training and staffing will complement the strategy as well.

As a growing Municipality, it’s imperative that Strathroy-Caradoc adopt a Customer Service Strategy and Implementation Plan in order to effectively service the growing community.

Council ultimately endorsed the Customer Service Strategy & Implementation Plan in principle pending 2026 budget deliberations and adopted the Customer Service Standards.

The Customer Service Strategy and Implementation Plan was established by “The Connection Crew”, a make-up of internal cross-departmental Municipal staff.
