Municipal Election

The next municipal election will be held Monday, October 26, 2026. 

The previous municipal election was held on October 24, 2022. Under the Municipal Elections Act, the four-year term of office for the current council and school board trustees began November 15, 2022, and ends on November 14, 2026.

Candidates For Election

  • Nomination Period for Candidates:

    • May 1, 2026, to August 18, 2026 (9:00am to 4:00pm, Mon-Fri, excl. holidays); and
    • Nomination Day: Friday, August 21, 2026 (9:00am to 2:00pm)
  • Advanced Voting: October 19-26,2026

  • Election Day: Monday, October 26, 2026

Any inquiries regarding voter information should be directed to voterhelp@strathroy-caradoc.ca or by calling 519-245-1105. 
However, anyone wishing to be added to the voters list must visit the municipal office in person to complete an Application to Amend Voters List form and present valid photo identification (health cards are not accepted).
The municipal office is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m (excluding holidays).

School Board Support

As a property owner, you are required to support a school system even if you do not have children or your children are not currently attending school. The school board you support dictates for which school board trustees you are eligible to vote.  

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is responsible for maintaining information on the school support associated with your property.

The Voter Help Centre is open during the advance voting period to assist electors with the telephone/internet voting process as well as other general election inquiries, including revisions.

Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc Council approved the use of internet/telephone voting for 2026.

The Association of Ontario Municipalities (AMO) is a great resource for prospective candidates. AMO has a number of resources on how local government works and what it is like to serve on a municipal council. They offer a number of training courses for those interested in running for election, including courses focused on new and returning candidates. Nominations for the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc will be accepted for the offices of:

Municipal Council

  • Mayor: One (1) to be elected by all voters in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc
  • Deputy-Mayor: One (1) to be elected by all voters in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc
  • Councillors: Seven (7) to be elected by all voters in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc
    • Four (4) to be elected by voters in Ward 1 (former Town of Strathroy)
    • Three (3) to be elected by voters in Ward 2 (former Caradoc Township)

School Boards

  • Thames Valley District School Board – Two (2) members to be elected.
  • London & District Catholic School Board –One (1) member to be elected.
  • Conseil scolaire Viamonde (French Public School Board) –One (1) member to be elected.
  • Conseil scolaire catholique Providence (French Separate School Board) –One (1) member to be elected.

Nomination Period is May 1, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. - August 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

2022 Financial Statements

It is the responsibility of a candidate to file a complete and accurate financial statement by the filing deadline of Friday, March 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Those candidates who did not file a financial statement by the legislative deadline had the opportunity to file within 30 days of the deadline with a late filing fee of $500.

Those candidates who failed to file a financial statement by the end of the 30-day grace period are ineligible to run or be appointed to fill a vacancy until after the 2026 election.
