Freedom of Information

The Legal & Legislative Services Department is responsible for handling requests for municipal records received under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).

Should you wish to submit a Freedom of Information request, simply fill out the FOI request form and submit it to the Legal & Legislative Services Department . There is a $5.00 fee payable when the request for information is submitted and there are other fees chargeable in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.M.56 as amended and its Regulations.

The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act has been in effect since January 1, 1991. This legislation regulates and controls the information that is made available to the public. The Act not only provides rights to the public to gain access to Municipal records, but also protects the privacy of individuals. There is a general right of access to records under MFIPPA, but this right is subject to the application of exemptions that may apply to records.
