Legal & Legislative Services

The Legal & Legislative Services Department carries out a variety of duties, as defined by the Municipal Act and as directed by Council, including the preparation of Council meeting agendas, recording of minutes, and distribution of communications resulting from Council proceedings.

As a representative of the Office of the Registrar General, the department processes and issues marriage licenses and death registrations on behalf of the Province. Lottery licence applications are also processed through this department. The Municipal Clerk is also responsible for the administration and conduct of the Municipal and School Board Elections, in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act.
