Official minutes which detail the full list of Council decisions will be posted online once they have been ratified by Council.
✅ Potential for a Green Bin Organic Recycling Program
The Green Bin program is a residential curbside collection service for organic waste, diverting food scraps, yard waste, and other compostable materials from landfills. Many municipalities in Ontario have implemented Green Bin programs to reduce waste and promote composting.
Councillor Willsie brought a motion to Council to include a required green bin organic recycling program in the 2026 budget. Council approved a motion to have Strathroy-Caradoc staff return a report on the potential of a Green Bin Organic Recycling Program.
✅ Mount Brydges Wastewater - Special Meeting
The special meeting regarding the Mount Brydges Wastewater Plant has been tentatively rescheduled to August 25, 2025. This new date allows additional time for multiple stakeholders to prepare and submit reports for Council’s review. These reports will offer important insight into potential next steps that the Municipality could take to address ongoing compliance issues at the facility.
✅ Lands Needs Analysis - Municipal Campus in Mount Brydges
Strtahroy-Caradoc staff have considered the following as potential components of a future Municipal Complex in Mount Brydges:
1. Twin Pad Arena with Community Space – Approximately 20 acres
2. Fire Station, Training Grounds, and Potential EMS Facility – Approximately 4 acres
3. Public Works Yard – Approximately 7 acres in total, the recommended land area for such a complex would range between 30 to 35 acres.
This estimate remains preliminary, as the final site size will be influenced by factors such as building design, layout, required amenities, stormwater management (if required), and buffer zones, particularly where the site may abut existing or future residential development. There is no further action required at this time.
✅ Intercommunity Transit
Last year, Council directed staff to exhaust our current funding which will terminate the Intercommunity Transit service at the end of August this year. Staff were also directed to work with the County to see what would transpire with the future of Intercommunity Transit here in Strathroy-Caradoc. Strathroy-Caradoc is 1 of 25 stakeholders with no financial obligations to continue the service. Strathroy-Caradoc did however support available funding, to which the County was successful in receiving. The next steps from the County’s perspective is to meet with the communities and discuss future operations in Strathroy-Caradoc.
We will provide updates on this matter as we receive them. At this time, there are no obligations from Strathroy-Caradoc to fund anything at this time. We have not received any further information at this point from the County level in regards to next steps.
