Increased Flood Risk with High Water Levels and Heavy Rain on Saturated Ground

Highlights:

  • Rain forecast for tonight and tomorrow upgraded to 20 - 40 mm
  • Ground is saturated and will not soak up more water
  • Watercourse levels are high
  • Most smaller watercourses remain over top of bank
Individuals are reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks, and cold, swift-moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water.
This message will remain in effect until March 16, 2026, unless otherwise updated.

Reminders for Residents

Keep drainage clear

  • Clear leaves and debris from street catch basins near your property so water can drain properly.
  • Ensure ditches and culverts on or near your property are not blocked.

Protect your home

  • Check that downspouts are directed away from your foundation.
  • Make sure sump pumps are working properly and have a backup power source if possible.

Stay away from high water

  • Keep children and pets away from fast-moving water and swollen creeks.
  • Do not walk or drive through flooded areas.

Monitor local conditions

  • Watch municipal channels for updates on road closures, flooding, or emergency information.

Report issues

  • Report blocked catch basins, flooded roads, or erosion concerns to the municipality.
