Planning Department

The Municipality is embarking on a multi-year project to update its Official Plan and complete a series of Master Plans and Studies to comprehensively plan for the next 20+ years. Together, they will guide growth, transportation, trails, housing, employment & commercial land development, and parks & recreation decisions across the Municipality.

About The Planning Department

The Planning Department oversees building, planning, and by-law enforcement in Strathroy-Caradoc. It works closely with municipal departments, Middlesex County, and local Conservation Authorities to manage growth and guide quality development across the community.

The department supports residents and developers by providing information, reviewing development proposals, processing planning applications, and administering the Zoning Bylaw and Official Plan. It also contributes to land use policy and economic development efforts.

Staff ensure all construction meets Ontario Building Code standards related to building, plumbing, heating, swimming pools, septic systems, and demolitions. They also handle by-law enforcement issues such as untidy properties, parking, and landlord-tenant concerns.
