Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc Adopts the 2026 Budget
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 18, 2026 - Strathroy, ON - The 2026 Budget for the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc has been officially adopted. Mayor Colin Grantham presented the Budget at a Special Council meeting on January 13, incorporating Council deliberations and proposed amendments. Following further discussion, the final amended Budget was approved by Council on February 11. Under the new legislation, the period for budget amendments has now closed, and the 2026 Budget is now in effect.
“This budget reflects a disciplined and forward-looking approach,” said Mayor Colin Grantham. “We are using reserves while limiting debt, actively pursuing grant opportunities, modernizing how we deliver services, and working with regional partners to maximize value. Together, these strategies help diversify revenue, ensure we remain financially resilient, and support the implementation of our
strategic plan.”
The municipal portion of the tax levy will rise by 4.53% in 2026. When combined with the Middlesex County increase (3.78%), and the Province’s tax increase of 0.00%, the blended property tax results in an increase of 3.80%. For homeowners, this represents a total tax increase of approximately $215.62 per $400,000 of assessed home value, or $134.76 per $1,000,000.00 million assessed farmland value. (The municipal portion of the increase would be $145.73 per $400,000 of assessed home value, or $91.08 per $1,000,000 assessed farmland value).
The 2026 Budget prioritizes investments that enhance safety, connectivity, and community wellbeing, including:
- $10,568,00.00 to support the development of the new Police Annex Building.
- $5,925,034 for key road, storm and drainage infrastructure projects such as the tar and chip program, road resurfacing, sidewalk improvements, bridge and culvert replacement/repairs.
- $2,760,000 in critical water, wastewater and stormwater investments, to support long-term infrastructure reliability
and growth. - $2,211,000 in meaningful upgrades to parks, sports fields, recreational arenas and spaces.
- $1,000,000 to support the 137 Frank Street improvements.
