Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for Mount Brydges Wastewater Servicing

The community of Mount Brydges is experiencing significant population growth. As the community's population expands, wastewater treatment needs will grow beyond the capacity of the existing Mount Brydges Wastewater Treatment Facility (Mount Brydges WWTF). An approach to providing additional wastewater treatment capacity for Mount Brydges is required that will accommodate potential growth within the boundaries of the existing community and consider anticipated development in the nearby surrounding area.
This Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) will address the anticipated need for growth in the Mount Brydges settlement and surrounding area through to 2046 as well as servicing requirements from the future connection of existing residents on private septic systems to municipal sewers. The project will identify the best approach for future wastewater servicing investments, considering options that may include expansion of the existing Mount Brydges WWTF, construction of a new facility or pumping of wastewater to
other nearby treatment plants.
The Class EA study is being undertaken as a Schedule ‘C’ project in accordance with the Class EA process (Municipal Engineers Association, March 2023, as amended February 2024) approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. Consultation with the public, Indigenous Nations, technical agencies and other stakeholders is a key element of the Class EA process. Four (4) Public Information Centres (PICs) are planned during the study to gather input on potential solutions and provide an opportunity to discuss comments and concerns with the project team.
As the Class EA study progresses, notices of PICs and consultation information will be posted on the project website at https://growingtogethersc.ca/mount-brydges-ea https://growingtogethersc.ca/mount-brydges-ea along with a link to be added to the study ’s distribution list to receive updates.
