Queen Street Reconstruction Update

Birnam Excavating, is scheduled to remobilize to site during the week of April 13, 2026 to complete the remaining surface works along Queen Street in Strathroy. To safely complete this work, a full road closure of Queen Street between High Street and English Street is anticipated for approximately five (5) weeks.

The remaining work includes final road reconstruction elements such as curb and gutter installation, sidewalk construction, driveway reinstatement, and asphalt paving.

As part of the final surface works, staff have also identified an opportunity to install a short section of additional sidewalk and a marked crosswalk in a safe location near the Queen Street and English Street intersection. This improvement will enhance pedestrian connectivity and provide a safer crossing point which will be located at a safe distance from the CN Railway along the corridor. Here is the proposed layout.

This public notice will be distributed on the Municipality's website, social media channels and directly to affected residents and businesses for awareness regarding timing and detour arrangements.
