Tire Recycling Currently Unavailable

The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc is currently unable to accept tires at the transfer station due to ongoing capacity challenges within Ontario’s tire recycling system.

At this time, our tire storage area remains at capacity, and staff are actively working to reduce the current inventory to a level that will allow us to safely resume accepting additional tires.

Ontario’s tire recycling system is currently experiencing significant processing and collection challenges. These issues are partly related to changes in provincial regulations, including reductions in mandated recycling targets, as well as ongoing industry concerns regarding cost recovery and fee structures. As a result, some recyclers across the province have limited or paused tire acceptance once their processing capacities or targets are met.

This has led to an accumulation of tires at collection points, including the Strathroy-Caradoc transfer station.

We understand this may cause inconvenience and appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we continue working with our recycling partners to restore service as soon as possible.
