Water Main Flushing Program

The Municipality will be starting Watermain Flushing beginning this Friday April 24 and finishing April 26th

Keeping Our Drinking Water Clean and Reliable

Routine water main flushing is an important part of maintaining high‑quality drinking water in our community. Over time, sediment and other naturally occurring materials can build up inside water pipes. Flushing helps safely remove these materials and keeps the water system operating as it should.

Why We Flush Water Mains

In addition to removing sediment and impurities, routine flushing helps to:

  • Improve water flow throughout the distribution system
  • Reduce chlorine demand caused by buildup inside pipes
  • Refresh water and maintain free chlorine residual, especially in low‑use areas such as dead‑end mains
  • Address aesthetic water quality concerns, including taste, odour, and discolouration

What Residents May Notice

During flushing activities, residents may temporarily see:

  • Reduced water pressure
  • Cloudy or slightly discoloured water

These conditions are normal and temporary. Running cold water for a few minutes usually clears the water once flushing is complete.

Our Commitment

Routine flushing is a proactive measure that helps ensure safe, reliable drinking water and protects the long‑term integrity of our water infrastructure.

If you experience ongoing concerns after flushing, please contact the Municipality for assistance.
